Larger-size sockets for 3/8" drive?

I need a 25mm socket. My mechanic's tools are all 1/4" and 3/8" drive, and I'd prefer to stick with those two sizes, but so far the only 25mm sockets I've been able to find are 1/2" or 3/4" drive.

Does a 25mm for 3/8" exist, or am I gonna need an adapter?

Might be easier to get a 3/8 x 1/2 upsize adapter and use a 1/2 drive socket. The adapters are available in lots of places.

I just checked Sears online. Looks like you can get a companion brand 1/2" ratchet for about $10, plus another $5.50 for a 25mm x 1/2" craftsman socket.

Looking at the cost of the specialty socket, $15.50 at Sears might be the way to go.

Good thought, but I need to use this with a 3/8" drive torque wrench.

Wreckwriter's link threw me because I checked the SK web site and found that their 3/8" drive sockets top out at 24mm. But then I saw that this is the deepwell version; another check reveals that for some reason those go up to 26mm (go figure).

I may just get a 1" socket, which would be close enough, especially with a six-point, and which appear to be readily available in 3/8" drive. Right now I'm using a 1" end wrench and the fit is fine, although obviously I have no way to measure the torque.

Close enough can cause a lot of damage when you start to apply pressure with a torque wrench. you should be able to get an adaptoer to go from 3/8 to 1/2".

Pappy, I thought about that, but the difference between 1" (25.4mm) and 25mm is so small that I'm not sure there's any more slop than a socket typically has anyway. But I'll check it out to be sure. Thanks again, everyone.
