HF 12 speed DP - Any good?

HF has their 12 speed bench DP on sale for $89. Looks pretty good from the picture. Does anyone own it? Comments on quality would be apprciated. Hard to beat price considering everything else from other dealers is more than double. Especially when you can use the 20% off coupon.

They also have the five speed one on safe for $39 that I am considering. It would be something that I use only occasionaly and if it does a better job than I can with my hand drill and be reliable as far as my useage frequency it would be worth it to me. --- Steve

I bought the bench 5 speed a few months back for $39 and have never regretted it. I don't use it a bunch, but when I do it works just fine.

I don't think you can go wrong on almost any HF drill press, on sale and with the 20% off coupon. I've got the model that typically goes for $299, that was $130ish with sale and coupon. It works great.

Does your store stock that model? I was originally looking for that one, but my store didn't have it, so I got the biggest benchtop model. The 12 speed looks pretty good though. The 5 speed looks like a decent basic model, but the warning is that the speed on it doesn't go low enough for some types of bits (larger forstners for example).

The larger benchtop goes on sale for a bit over $100 with coupon, and has done everything I have asked of it.

Jim same here, the larger BT drill press is well made ,seems the same as my Delta DP400 floor model except for the size. I had to repair the plastic switch housing , otherwise good except it is 125# and I was looking a more portable DP. This is very good for the price, actually I paid $79.(reg. $190). I want 1 for metal, 1 for WW.
