      Thanks for all the help - still think I'll try one of the extractors from McMaster (if they don't have one at work).

      Just to make it clear - I always tap threads with a T-wrench and only cut a little at a time with MarvelMysteryOil. On this occasion I didn't have room for my hand wrench. I still eased it in and out slowly with a low clutch setting. After thinking about it I think my problem was that my battery wore out about mid-way through the job and the fresh battery got the best of me.
