make a bent wrench?

Hi all,

I’m trying to make or buy cheap a bent wrench to fit a Hitachi router (53/64-inch) for above-the-table bit changes < http://www.mikestools.com/Cmt-Router-Tables_1134.aspx >. Does anybody have this wrench that they aren’t using; know where to buy one cheap?; know how to make one?

interestingly enough tho, they don't list the Hitachi. I do believe it's a 22mm IIRC

Woodpecker has the 22mm bent wrench. They do not list the Hitachi as one of the routers with 22mm, but I am sure that if the Hitachi is 22mm then this would work.

I received my M12V on a Friday so I had time to set it up in my table and couldn't wait to use it. I decided to make a bent wrench out of the flat one supplied w/ the router. I bought a RouterRaizer at the same time and it had a template on where to put the bends. The wrench is pretty stout so it took some heat to soften it but I was successful in making my own bent wrench. I may still buy a Sommerfeld wrench (I have their phenolic table) because, as expected, when you bend the stock wrench the handle becomes a little short.

I you know a really strong guy, and couple beers might get you that bent wrench you want. The only trouble would be getting the bend in the right place.

Sommerfeld is the best place to buy the bent wrench for the hitachi. Unless you want to do the propane, vise and hammer method.

Woodpeckers did sell the offset wrench at one time, but has discontinued making wrenches for ALL makes, and is only advertising those models it still has in stock (the Hitachi's are GONE). I was going to cut, weld and rework the stock wrench, but solved the problem by getting a chuck extension instead.

One correction - M12V uses 21mm wrench, not 22. I could not find any source for that size other that sommerfeld's. I was thinking of chuck extension too but I only want a good one and at a standard price of about $65 I would rather go for a bent wrench.
