    Woodworker's respirator

Has anyone tried this respirator? These come in one size only and I have a smaller than average head. Want to make sure it fits comfortably. Thanks.

Never tried that model, but the masks of that type usually seal pretty well. About the only thing that creates a problem is a beard and even that is not too bad.

I use it and find it very comfortable. I think I have a larger than average head, but I have no complaints with it. It wasn't to expensive, $20, and the replacement filters were reasonable as well.

I have one of those as well and have been very satisfied with it. I'm getting ready to replace the filters so I'm glad to here that they are not too expensive.

I'm sorry, you aren't allowed to be a member of this form unless you believe your head is larger than average....

I have the dual cartridge AO safety respirator. Actually I'm on my second. I find them to be of high quality, fit is good and relatively comfortable. The dual cartridge has replaceable cartridges that are available in different levels of protection covering dust and solvents.

How long did the first filter last? I understand it can be different based on what environment it is used in but in general would you say an hour, day, week, month? Or a better question is what is their recommendation on when to change the filter? Thanks.

I got mine at Sears. They also carry the replacement filters.

After many years (yeah, I'm that old), I found you can extend the life af "chemical" type filter masks if you keep the mask in an air tight plastic bag (zip-lock, preferably stolen from wife) when not using. You'd be amazed just how much longer the cartridges last.

That's the respirator that I have, and it's worked fine so far (and I'm another bearded woodworker). I've been attempting to extend the life of the filter by vacuuming it out with the shop vac every so often, which seems to work -- although I really should replace it one of these days...

I just ordered mine from amazon for 13.95 with an extra 4 pack of filters for 4.99. Not sure how much sears is selling it for.

                            Sears

I think that I paid $16-17 and about $5 for the replacment filters at Sears.
