    Jet 12.5"portable planer

Anybody have an opinion or have a Jet JWP-12 DX708521 12.5" portable planner. I am thinking about bidding on one later tonight. It might be a better deal than trying to recondition the Ryobi 10" I got last week.

    Thanks

Tom, I have a similar planer. The planer was sold with little "jigs" to set the knives in it, those jigs can be replaced with something else but it's far easier to have them than it is to try to duplicate their function.

Nice planer, plenty of power, if I pay attention to my setup and how I feed stock I can run with absolutely no sniipe. If I don't pay that much attention and just run because I'm in a hurry I'll occasionally get a little bit of snipe.

I've run nicer planers but for a portable unit I'd sure buy this one again.

Thanks for the information, but I lost the bidding war for it on Ebay. It went for $7 more than I was willing to pay. I had set a limit and it went past, Oh! well back to the reconditioning the Ryobi. Just was trying to snag something better.
