craftsman grinder as a drum sander?

hi!

i'm, still trying to solve getting some type of sanding wheel device into my shop, for cheap.

let me ask your opinions-

Fact: someone gave me a craftsman 6 inch grinder with a 1/2 in arbor.

Question: can THIS machine be converted into a drum sander of some sort? is there something that could mount onto the 1/2 in arbor that would allow me to then attach a 3 inch sanding drum?

would this be a better machine to adapt than my drill press?

that would be one fast spinning drum I think. Unless you have variable speed.
The shaft isnt long enough to put a regular OSS drum on it.
I lucked out. I got the Ryobi OSS for $50 at HD a while ago. But now after having one if it broke I would go out and buy one. Probably speend a few hundred bucks on one. THey are pretty awsome.
I would love an oscilating belt sander but they are quite a bit more expensive.

Do you have a drill press? If yes - your problem is solved. Get yourself some sanding drums and enjoy. Like the ones below:

If you don't have a drill press - get yourself a drill press before you get a sander. It is a more important tool.
