    Craftsman roller stand.

Sears has Craftsman roller stand on sale for $14.77. Are these useful?? I was thinking of getting a couple to use with my tabe saw, RAS, and miter saw to catch or help feed boards or use it to hold crown molding/boards for my miter saw. Looks like they can be adjusted to height I need within their range. HD also has a Rigid brand stand that can catch the board coming off of the back of the saw and then level the top [ flips up] for support to compensate for sag. Those go for $29 each. -- Steve

I just now got back from HD. Bought 2 "Workforce" brand roller stands, about that same price. Nothing fancy, just adjustable roller stands. These go like 28-43" in height range.

Buy the Ridgid Flip Top Stands. They may be twice the money but believe me, they're 10 times the stand. If you don't believe me, do a Search of this Forum and see what others have to say about the Ridgid stands.

I have a couple of them. They are ok. Nothing to right home about but they work and are pretty cheap.

I was looking at them a while back and posted the same question. Most of the reply's said go with the Ridgid, flip style. (haven't bought them yet, due to tool bargins, and waiting till spring, to use the planner outdoors)

For TS outfeed, I think that the ball stands are the best. (a series of balls in housings) They don't tend to try and pull the workpiece one way or another. For use with the miter saw or otherwise, these drum stands work fine for me.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I am going to but one roller stand and one flip top stand to give each a try and I am sure that both will be put to good use. --- Steve

Have 4 of the roller stands and they work well for the price. About 6 months ago, the roller part on one of them broke off. Had sort of been looking for a roller replacement I could put on and then The idea of using Rocklers Ball bearing rollers hit me.
Attached a block of wood between where the roller normally went and then attached the 6 pack of ball bearing rollers to the block of wood. Works great!!

The Ridgid Flip-Top stands, used in pairs, work great at supporting a sheet of plywood/MDF/etc. for an instant extra table - just add a pair of spring clamps. I sometimes use mine to hold the router table top since the workbench is still being built (a copy of the Ultimate Tool Stand to fit my space-challenged garage). They make a quite stable/instant workspace.

They clean up easily too; have no grease/oil in them (like some cheap roller bearings have) to contaminate your workpiece, etc.
