    Man...Cordless Jigsaw Heaven...

    A few months ago, I purchased the Rigid Cordless Jigsaw when it was clearanced at $129. I did not get a chance to use it until today. I have a real small shop. (19x13 feet) Cutting full sheets of plywood is not practical with a table saw, so out comes the cordless jigsaw. In 30 minutes my battery was fully charged. I was setting up my saw horses and penciling measurements while the battery was charging.

    I used a 4 foot metal ruler from HD clamped to the plywood as a guide for the jigsaw. The Jigsaw ate 3/4 plywood like it was going through butter. The edges are incredible smooth and flat like they were sanded. I also love the fact that I don't have to plug something in and wind my extension cord around tools. Best yet, is that I have no cords in my way when cutting wood. The battery had plenty of power left after ripping 16 linear feet of plywood.

    For you guys contemplating a good jigsaw such as the Bosch, Dewalt, or Rigid, you will never regret spending the extra bucks. My Black and Decker Jigsaw has been given away, as I refuse to ever use that tool again. Even if you don't go cordless, get your self the one of the better jigsaws.

    I graduated from B&D to a Bosch jigsaw about 10 years ago and couldn't believe the difference. I've seen the new Bosch cordless but can't justify the purchase just for the cordless.
    Opinions are like gas;
    I don't mind hearing it, but keep it to yourself if it stinks.

      I agree Dan. I thought I had decent jigsaws till I used the Bosch. I haven't given the old ones away, tho. I haven't met anyone I would do that to, YET! ;-D

        I have a makita corded jigsaw. My dad has an old craftsman but I don't remember how it worked other than it was way bigger. Mine has a switch to make the blade not only go up/down but adds some forward/backward motion. That definately speeds it up compared to straight up and down.
        But besides that what do you gain when you get the more expensive ones? Im sure they have a bigger motor but mine has never seemed to slow down when cutting. I think I paid $60-75 but am not exactly sure. Ive had it a while.

          What you have is called an orbital jigsaw. The orbital motion is to make rough cuts faster. For intricate or scrolling work, it's best to use the straight up-and-down setting.
