    GMC SCMS reviews

I have been avidly researching miter saws for purchase, and pretty much decided on a 10" CMS. I previously narrowed my choices to either the Delta or Rigid.

I never thought about a SCMS due to the price, but at Lowe's last night I got to looking at a GMC 10" SCMS that was advertised at $189. I just figured it was some cheap-o off brand that wouldn't be worth my time, but when I got home and googled for it, I was surprised to find some very good reviews. Two of the reviews that stood out were here http://www.epinions.com/content_153960812164, and here http://www.onlinetoolreviews.com/rev...andlsms250.htm.

Being new at all this WW stuff, I wanted to solicit opinions from you guys that either have GMC products, or have heard from reliable sources, if these reviews are indicitive of their product line. If true, I think I might have found me a new saw!!

    TIA to all that reply!

I have been using the saw for some time now and can't say enough good about it! I simply love the product. Put down a laminate floor without a hitch. Trimmed a room in chair rail, crown, base and 1/4 round in short order. The saw is accurate and versatile. Just mounted mine on a Ridgid MSUV and this is the bomb! You could do a lot worse in selection.

      Hi Jon
Probably the GMC SCMS you saw at Lowes was the SMS15A10UL which replaced the SMS250LSRUL (which was reviewed in epinion link you pasted).

I have the older version - SMS250LSRUL the one reviewd which I purchased at Lowes and other than a few dislikes it has performed flawlessly for me.
There was a review posted a few month ago on this site for the newer MS15A10UL.

Thanks for the quick replies, fellas. This is sounding better and better.

RmeDad.... I already planned on picking up the MSUV. My HD still has them marked $149, but you can bet I'll be making them verify the $99 special.

If memory serves me correctly, the GMC will only miter in one direction. I don't know if it matters to you or not but I thought I would point it out....
