      Thanks Guys,

Actually I am a new old member who just peeked in late last night for the first time in way too long. A good friend of mine when he retired decided to get into woodworking and bought a BT3. I had a chance to play with it and was impressed at how well made and its features. I helped him learn about forums and found this one for him, but have no idea if he ever was active or under what name as he was not too fond of his PC or the Internet.

He got all the goodies then added more with Rockler and Incra toys plus homebuilt extension tables that he used to hold mounting plates with his Bosch jig saw, Porter Cable oscillating spindle sander, and believe it or not, his belt sander that he could flip upside down level the belt with the table top. Earlier this year he gave the whole system to a theater in Sacramento and moved back to where he calls home in Denver.

I was thinking of him and what a neat system he had built last night while looking around for options for my daughter. She grew up with my shop, so now as a senior in college with a dual major in art and economics she wants something small but well featured that can help with some of the woodworking projects she is doing. I was going through my list of forums and checked to see if BT3 was still here. It is but idiot me could not log in because I misspelled Electric when I first signed up and never noticed.

Anyhow, I'm here but still not an active poster simply because there just is not enough time with so much going to my web pages on Cyclone and Dust Collection Research with the emails that generates.

Anyhow, hopes this helps adding my two cents on band saw dust collection.

I like Ken's set-up with the dual port. This is what I intended to do with a new MM16 I saved for and purchased at the IWF Show a week ago. It has the dust port in front under the the lower bearings. It also has a 45* degree reciever that allows a plywood catch screen that the blade travels through to be inserted under that port opening.

But.. even with a brush attached (a brush is worth the effort if your BS doesn't have one built on board) saw-dust will still get to the bottom and ride the wheel. The second port in the bottom will help IMO. The only difference I can see in Ken's set-up is I will drill on the base side instead of the bottom door to alleviate hindrance of opening the bottom door.

And the bad news is: Even with a direct DC attached, it won't get it all as there is a lot of saw-dust created when re-sawing wide stock. :<)

        Regards...
