    Wide Threads

I haven't had this problem in a long time, but am having it now. Certain threads stretch beyond the width of my 19" monitor. I think it used to happen when threads contained large images, but it's now happening with threads that contain no images.

    Any suggestions?

    P.S.

    Reloading doesn't help.

The usual culprit is a long, nonbreaking URL. There is no solution except for the original poster to use the URL capabilities of the post editor, or a service such as tinyurl.com

Thanks. That makes sense. Maybe there have been an unusually high number of extra long urls lately.

I went looking for the instructions on how to insert a hotlink in a post rather than quoting a long url and couldn't find them. Where are the directions on how create a hyperlink?

          Use the following syntax:

          (url="linkto")description(/url)

BUT substitute square brackets for the parentheses, and substitute "linkto" for the hyperlink and description with some descriptive text.

          As an example:
If you used square brackets instead of parentheses on the following:
          (url="http://www.bt3central.com/forum")BT3 Central Forums(/url)

          You'd get:
          BT3 Central Forums

I can never remember that (I had to look it up to post this) so I typically use tiny URL's generated at http://www.tinyurl.com

When I have time I ussually edit the offending posts and fix them to show the short link, but I know I've been missing quite a few lately.

            sorry

              This method works for me.

When you are replying to a post look at the "Format Mode" box. It's a dropdown and I set it to "Prompt" then when you click on the little globe looking icon in the Format line you get a box that says "text to be shown for the link" I type my text likeCLICK HERE and it automagically does it all for me.

              How bout some pics okay?

I'm not the brightest bulb on the string. Thrth be told I'm dummr dan a box of rox but this works for me. I hope it works for you to.

On an aside from the url question; When posting an image, the "Forum Code" says that they will be "automatically" resized if you don't add the "nr" ... This apparently doesn't work when you use the "Attach File" feature to upload and attach a pic? Must the pic be hosted elsewhere for the resizing to work?

Can't help with the resizing ?...but for viewing..it seems sometimes it works and sometimes does not..refresh helps some..But here is what I read to help me resize pictures for viewing and store them on this site....keep in mind I am not a computer guy..but after reading LChiens thread...it was very easy for even me to do!
