Works Stan. Good idea. I sent this as an attachment to myself, choose View in the received email. On the new page with the image right click the image, properties. Copy the URL path in the properties screen and paste that for the image link here.

Edit: Dang, the image showed in the composing of the post, but just shows an image link in the actual post.

The 'Image link' here works only if it points to an image format file (ending with jpg, gif, etc). Many of Gmail features show you the image without the file ending, hence those links will not work here. (all this by experience, i am not an expert by any means).

If you are on gmail, the best way to link to images is :
      - enable gmail's photos option (you'd see a link at the top left side)
(once enabled, this would take you to picasaweb.google.com)
      - create an album, upload your pic(s) (only accepts JPEG files)
      - click on the pic (you should see one single picture on the screen)
      - click on 'link to this photo' on the right side
      - ignore the 'paste this link in email or IM'
      - in the text box below 'HTML to embed in website', you'd see a valid html link within quotes, after the 'img src=' tag.
      - before you copy and paste from here, pay attention to the 'select size' below it. By default it has a thumbnail size. You can choose small/medium/large sizes.
      - first select your size, then copy the img src value above it. ensure that the link ends with a JPG/JPEG
      - paste into your post here using the Insert Image button. the inserted value should start with http and end with JPG

voila, you are done! now astound all of us with your awesome post!

So my link above doesn't work for you, radhak?

nope, it does not. but then, it's part of your gmail account, so i should not be able to see it unless i login to your account ...

on the other hand, if you use a link with the complete path (with no login needed) to the image, it will show up.

as an example i used the path in the 'properties' from a generic TIVO marketing email and pasted it here :

          the link is : http://f.chtah.com/i/15/768561495/Re...nni_header.jpg

and it does show. note that this link has the file extension (.jpg) at the end.

Another test.... Thanks for the tip radhak, I was running into the same issue where the photo would show up when generating the message -- then when it was saved only the link would be displayed.
Your tip on the 'link to photo' information got things straightened out.

            Thanks again.

That seems like an awful lot of work for what photobucket already does. What does going through gmail do differently?
