    Trouble loading attachments

I was about to post this in the "project related discussions" forum, but at the last minute decided to look for a more appropriate place for it.

I've got a few questions about how to fix a couple mistakes I made on the gargae cabinet I've been working on. I took pictures, because I think seeing the mistakes will make it easier to tell me how to fix them.

It turns out the pix are too large (1.61 MB) than the forun will allow (I think it was about 71 KB ?).

I am about as tech savvy as I am at woodworking, and I've never loaded pictures onto a web site before or edited photos. Anyone know if I can shrink the size of the pix? Or is there another way to load them into a post? I certainly don't want to post giant pictures that no one can look at without having to scroll back and forth, up and down, etc. I think I understand why there has to be a limit on the size, so things don't get crazy with huge pictures.

I use the software that came with the camera. It's a Casio Exilim, the software that loads pix onto the computer is called photo loader, and the editing software is called photo hands. I've tried the photo hands help selection, but I haven't got anywhere with it.

Thanks for any advice. Maybe I'll get this cabinet done someday....

What I'd do, Tom, is to visit this site and download a free copy of the excellent graphics software, Irfanview, by clicking on the "Download Now" button.

Once loaded onto your computer, open the relevant pic(s) with it and go to the "Image" menu, then select "Resize/Resample." A box pops up with some common picture dimensions. Type "500" into the "Width" window and then save the pic as a new file (so that you'll keep the full-size original). Upload the newly-saved pic, following instructions here.

You may already have some suitable image-editing software on your computer, or may be able to do something similar with your existing programs, but the above is a "for sure" method. HTH

Tom, if you're not comfortable doing that, send me a PM. I'll give you my e-mail address, then you can send me the files, and I'll fix them for you for posting.

Do you know about kickback? Ray has a good writeup here... https://www.sawdustzone.org/articles...mare-explained

Thanks fellas, I figured it out.

You were right Ray, the software I already have allowed me to adjust the sizes, it just took me a while to figure it out. I think I'll take a look at the link you sent anyway...my software seems a little cheap, which I remember reading in Consumer Reports is often true. I posted my pics and question in the projects forum...can't imagine how huge they would have been if I had been able to post them before, I had to shrink them a LOT!

So I've learned how to do something new today

        Thanks

        Tom
