    Posting Pics - easy steps...

I'm trying to give a series of steps for pic posting (from your C drive).

Keep in mind, this must be done EACH TIME you want to post a pic - and ONLY relates to THIS post. That means you can't get at previously uploaded pics.

So now I want to insert a pic
    • Scroll down to "Additional Options" and click on "Manage attachments". A window opens that invites you to "Upload file from your computer". Locate the file on your C drive and upload.
    • Scroll back to here, and position the cursor where you want the pic to be inserted.
    • Click on the paper clip, above - a tiny window appears which will list the pic/s you have just uploaded. Click on the one/s you want

You will see the "ATTACH nnn /ATTACH" code inserted by the forum software.
    • Click on "Preview Post" to see the results.
I hope this helps a little.

Don't forget to resize the picture first

The new forum software only likes very small pics, 400 x 300 pixels maximum, IIRC.

        I always reduce to 800 x 600 - never a problem.

I frequently get this. Note the admonishment at the top, indicating having exceeded the proper file size, and the chart below with maximums.

I had the same problem with size. It is size in bytes that I think it doesn't like, not the resolution... I found this software: http://picasa.google.com/ that is free and has a "resize" option that has options for email and web page friendly sizes.
Click. . . Hey, turn the lights back on! I'm still down here!

Anyway, here are a couple more places to download free picture resizers. I use both of the below free softwares, and they are very easy to understand and work great. Enjoy.

Thanks Rod. It certainly makes it easy. I need to try posting one of these days.

Tried to post a picture and followed Rod's suggestions, But....

when I went to additional options and clicked on the "manage attachments", nothing happens. No window opens. Nothing.

I do have a pop up filter program called add/subtract. turned it off, but still nothing opened up.

Any idea of what I doing wrong??

I do not know what went wrong. I hated putting pictures in the old way but I find it significant easier since the website changed the process. I am still learning to size things properly but it works well for me. To make this work, you might try turning off as much "stuff" as you can and try again.

This photo is hosted by my site, so I simply clicked on the image icon above and it opened a window to place my url into. Pasted my URL and clicked okay and the image appeared.

This next image was one I uploaded from my computer. I scrolled down to manage attachments and clicked on it. It opened a window that gave me an option to upload a file from my computer or add a URL as I did with the first photo.
I browsed my files on my hard drive and found the file I was looking for. Clicked on it. Then hit the upload button.
I could then scroll down and see that it had uploaded my pic. I didn't close this window yet, but returned to my posting screen and clicked on the paper clip above. I clicked on my file name and it attached my photo giving it a number. My picture can't be seen yet until I preview the post. Then its there.

Below is an image of the syntax for both photo's in this post. I hope this helps. There may be other ways to do it as well, but if the file names are within the given parameters, I don't see a problem posting either way.

Have tried to click "manage attachments" numerous times and nothing opens up, so I imagine that something in my software is preventing this from happening.

Clicking on the image icon above opens the url window. What I want to do is post pictures that are on my hard drive.

Any suggestions on what or where to look for to turn off would be appreciated.
