Losing threads when coming up to forum level

Anyone else having this problem: you go to a forum (Tools, say), see a bunch of new threads, go into one, come back out to the top level of that Tools forum, and at least a few of the new threads are no longer listed. If you go up to the top level of the forums where all of them (e.g., Bargains, Coffee Pot, Tools, etc.) are listed, choose the Tools forum again and reenter it, the missing Tools threads reappear.

Very odd, but not very consistent for me.

When you enter a forum there is an option at the bottom of the page for showing new threads - default is last 2 days. What may be happening is you go in to the forum, leave then come back and those thnreads are no longer new.
