Any dial up member please reply

http://www.bt3central.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2043 If you couldplease click on this link and tell me how long it takes for the page to load. I'm thinking of adding a few more pics and don't want it to slow the topic down too much. I have DSL so I don't notice slow loads anymore but I remember the days and how frustrating slow loading pages are.

    TIA

Your particular page took about 19 seconds to appear. To be honest, BT3Central is slower than just about any site I regularly visit, so 19 seconds is only marginally longer than most other pages, and shorter than some; for example, the thread about Grizzly digital calipers just now took about 24 seconds to load. For that reason, I weigh the titles carefully before deciding to open threads anymore.

Mark, you might try doing what I did in the Shark Guard thread. I just put on one pic and the rest are links. On my site, I like to use thumbnails. That may work pretty good here too. It takes a little longer to create a thumbnail, but the results are faster load times. Then the folks can look at the pics on demand.

About 90 seconds for me! Good to have them split, MarK.

Great tip Lee! That is what I have been doing on my site too...well kinda anyway. Pretty easy to do with html but forum code is not as easy. Might just be I need more commands than are listed in the "Forum code" link.

Rod, you are welcome! I remember wayyyyy back when I had a slow notebook Mac as my only computer withsmall Ram and dial-up connection on long old phone lines and how frustrating it was to wait for graphic heavy posts to load....

That's right; that info is in "Forum Help" item at the top right of the screen. Unfortunately, it takes you to another page, and when you return, you may lose whatever you've input thusfar, so be sure to highlight and copy anything you've written first.

Norm are you forgetting the "right click and open link in a new page"?

Oops, guilty as charged. Thanks for reminding me, Jim. I don't usually use that trick.
