Active time

Sam - I was logged on for several minutes before I clicked on "Who's Online?", but there I was only shown as being logged on for 1 minute. This was not a new window, but opened in '_TOP'.

I just checked mine and it says that I've been "on" for three minutes. More like 10 minutes, according to my watch!

I just checked the "who's on" again and it says I've been "on" for Zero minutes!
When I looked before it was 1:38 AM CST! It is now 1:52 AM CST! That's 14 minutes I've NOT been on, not counting the 3 minutes it said I was on before, (but here never the less), go figure!

And all along,I thought it was just me,it seems as though it recycles itself every so many minutes and starts over.

It's a mystery! Just checked and my 'Active Since' time is now 230 minutes, so if it recycles it has a long periodicy. I leave it logged on and check every so often.

The "Active Users" MOD has some settings that I can "tweak". One of them is "timeout". It is currently set at 5 minutes. I will set it up to 10 minutes and see if things behave more like they should. Here is some info on the "timeout" setting:

quote:
The timeout indicates how long a user can remain idle before they are deleted from the active users table. If you forum is small with only 1 or two users at a time, its ok to have a timeout as high as 15-20 minutes. If you have alot of traffic on your forum, setting the timeout as low as 5 minutes will keep the table smaller.

Sam - thx. what does 'idle' mean? I must have been 'idle' in that I didn't post for > 10 min. I have a page set to reload every 5 minutes, so perhaps that keeps me 'alive' in the table. Doesn't explain the short times -v- the long ones though (???).
