Also, when you're in the Active Topics, there is a little purple and yellow file folder at the top left corner of the blue bar. Clicking this will mark all messages as read.

But watch out, 'Active Topics' only means from a certain time (selectable in the drop down box), and not all unread messages. That just caught me out.
