    My Shop - picture intensive

My shop is in a 10' X 12' storage shed. Almost enough room to cuss a cat if you keep it to 4 letter words and the cat is a kitten.

Anyway I had said I'd post pictures when I finished making all my tools mobile. I actually finished a couple of weeks ago but it took me this long to clean it to the point it wouldn't send Rod into shock

This is a picture of my bandsaw. It's on a cabinet and uses a Homier mobile base to move around. You can also see my craftsman bench top jointer next to it. It's cabinet has two fixed and two swivel casters.
I'd say invest in all swivel casters, I did on all my other tools and it's worth it. I have to shuffle a little to use the bandsaw and shuffle a lot to get the jointer out to use it.

On the wall next to the jointer is my drill press, it's the 12" from Big Lots and has served me well. It's cabinet has 4 swivel casters from Hartville tools( I recommend their casters for quality/value).

In the corner on the same wall as the drill press is my tool rack, it holds a combo disk/belt sander, scroll saw, bench grinder, and under the rack is my shop vac which is connected to the small cyclone lid which sits on a 5 gal bucket with a 10' hose to connect to which ever tool I'm using at the time.

The tools from the rack sit on the tool cart that's holding the router table when in use.

Sitting next to the tool rack along the other wall is a cart that holds my CMS and Planner. It has to move to the doorway to use the planner or if I want to cut lumber of any length.

And of course you can't have a shop without a BT3 Notice I'm storing short craft lumber between the studs.

I have two small benches 1 is 2'X 5' and the other is 2' X 4'. Neither is what I'd call a woodworkers bench both were built when I was remodeling our house and before I took up woodworking.

There is very little room for storage except in the tool cabinets but I did manage some overhead shelves under the ridge on both sides.

Thanks for looking and I'd be glad to hear any comments on how to improve the arrangement for better work flow.

That looks great and is setup well.

    Great job

DonHo, You make me ashamed of the wasted space in my shop. That is a great job of organization. My hats off to you.

It talks a lot of ingenuity to get a usable shop out of 10 feet by 12 feet. Makes me feel wasteful and thankful for my ~400 ft2.

          Good job!

I have about the same size shop and do most WW outside (on non-rain days, pen turning excepted). Mine is not nearly as organized as yours and I had to downsize when I made a move last year. I am surprised at how much I can get in a small space, but it has to be organized.

You did a great job. I don't have enough wall space for clamps or to hang all of my tools and I still need to make bunches of drawers to hold everything and get the stuff out of boxes.

Having too much stuff sure hampers work. I am envious of your organization.

Wow great job of making a small space useable.
Reminds me of when I was an apartment dweller and had my rollaway in my closet with my jack, jackstands and compressor chained outside on my terrace.
You learn to make do with less space when you don't have it.
I'll never be able to do it again!

Don, you sure know how to organize. Like some of the other replies I need to look at my wasted space. Maybe this will inspire me.

Hank, I'm planning to add a small deck to work outside when the weather is nice(kinda like Pappy's). Another benefit of making the tools mobile is you get lots of storage space in the mobile cabinets. I actually have a couple of empty drawers now but I'm sure that won't last. Thanks to all for the nice comments.

Well done, DonHo! Your use of mobile cabinets is brilliant. You've got loads of storage under every tool. Very clever.

Nice little shop!! Being cramped makes it imperative to be organized.
Learned that living in a pick-up camper, doing construction work in Texas back in 1984.
You have found some very inventative ways to organize and use available space.
