It's a flip out coffee mug holder for a DP table. He was looking at a DP table from Rockler the other day and he bought it.

Well, I'm surprised! Looking thru my Woodhaven catalog last week, I came on a new item and ordered it - then - having a quiet Saturday I thought - mmmmm...
BTW - It's reversible

Aaaaah! Nice idea. I could see that being useful.
Now the question is: what do you do when your package arrives from woodhaven?

Well I guess I will have to make me one of those! Nice!
I still think you should go into business, offer the prototype up for sale to the highest bidder and the rest for a standard price, including shipping from OZ! I can see the prototype making you rich!

I like yours better Rod. I have to ask, where did you get the knurled knob for the SMT?
Thanks for the post!

Hah Scot - it's been a while since anyone asked.
10+ years ago when I got my BT3000, one of the first things I did was make Version 1.0 of my SMT Fence "face" (in my case it's NOT a sacrificial fence). I wanted 2 things - sandpaper on the face and an elegant way to attach stops etc. This is when I discovered Woodhaven - and bought the aluminum track you see on the top of the fence.
I quickly discovered that the original knob was too large a diameter - anything I wanted to attach to the fence couldn't get past the knob.
The company I was working for at the time just happened to have a TOOL SHOP - and - I had done a couple of favors for the TS Manager I took the miter fence in with the OEM knob and said NO, I didn't want a cruddy wing nut! He pondered, and said he had an idea. Two days later - voila - polished aluminum alloy, knurled! And the kicker - it was FREEDownunder ... 1" = 25.4mmComment

One of the neatest tools I ever used in my Dad's shop was the knurling attachment for his lathe. So simple! Just a couple of wheels on a bar of metal, and you just pushed the wheels into the spinning metal rod. Seemed like magic to me. After I learned to use it, I tended to put knurling on any metal rod that I wasn't planning on threading... [:I]
