    Retractable Vacuum Hose

Just saw this on YouTube. Anyone have any idea how he got it to retract when blocked at the end? Kind of a cool idea.

A homegrown garage vacuum system using a ShopVac, some PVC pipe, and a 35 foot pool vac hose. Hose retracts automatically when blocked at end.

it must be associated with the tissue in the nozzle. i've seen the same feature in central vacuums for the home, but i'd love to know how he got it to work in a shop vac application.
there's a solution to every problem.......you just have to be willing to find it.

Looks like the pool hose slides into the PVC. Neat idea, but there's probably a lot of lost effancancy with the long run, bends and turbulance from the long corrugated hose. Probably would need a strong shop vac to overcome everything.

I have a 21' Dust Right hose on my DC cart. The 4" dia hose will retract into a 3' length. They also carry a 2 1/2" hose. http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=22152
