    Pipe Clamp Rack

    July 4th project ...

I saw this tip somewhere (?) It solved my pipe clamp storage problem. Now they are near most of my other clamps.

I attached eye bolts to PVC caps; screwed one onto the end of each pipe clamp; hung them on hooks. Original tip suggested screwing the eye bolt into iron caps. So far (1-day), looks like the PVC caps are strong enough.

    Thanks for looking.

Cool idea. Are the ones near the rear hard to get to? Did you use a threaded eye with nuts & washers?

        Nice solution.

I've got all mine stashed horizontally overhead on some big 6" square j-shaped hooks. They're out of the way, and it's a dense storage solution for my limited space. It can be a pain at times though. I usually need the long set at the bottom of the deep stack.

Great job Lonnie, I love the amount of clamps that are easily accessible but out of the way!

The only ones I might worry about would be the deep throat clamps. Those suckers can be heavy even on short pipe.

Mine are like Eriks's except smaller hooks that I spread open a bit.

Thanks for the compliments. Already found that I need more hooks.

C-MAN: The clamps at the rear can be removed pretty easily. Might be more difficult if the columns of hooks were closer together.
Yes, 2-1/2", 1/4-20 threaded eye bolts with nuts, washers, and loctite on both sides of the cap. Screw hooks through plywood into 2X and 1X backing.

PAPPY: You planted a seed of doubt. It crossed my mind when I hung the deep throat clamps, too. Their weight may eventually cause the PVC to fail. Rather than keep looking up every time I walk by, I'll drill some iron caps for them this week.

I was cleaning my shop last night and had the idea of just drilling a hole in the pipe near the end instead of a cap. Is there anyting wrong with that?

My 2-cents ... A hole might weaken the pipe if you need to extend the length by attaching another pipe to it with a coupling.
