    Summer Shop Enhancements

    New lathe tool rack

Router table based of Nahm's, I used Rockler table kit so had to decrease dimensions (took 2" off width and depth, same height). I still need to add mobile base next payday.

as you can see I could use more bits, mainly have a ryobie 1/4" shank starter set and a couple sizes of 1/2" shank straight bits, will start buying 1/2" shanks bits as needed.

Impressive job on the router table. I like the way all your lathe knives are at hand. They appear to lean back slightly. Anything else keeping them in place?

Thanks Pappy. yes they are angled back and teh butt of each tool is seated in a pocket to prevent them from sliding.

That's nicely done. Something like a pool cue rack. What slide method did you use for the router bit drawers?

Good stuff! It's nice when you can use your shop to improve... err... your shop.

The drawers just slide in slots made by 1/2" plywood strips for rails. They move very easily right now when they are mostly empty.

Get a beeswax stick (WC has them) and you will have much better luck with the wood-on-wood slides...

Nice work. I'm going to have to remember your rack when I get a lathe. What wood did you use for the router base?

You might consider changing to solid hardwood strips instead of plywood if you can.

Nicely done! That router table is great. It looks like it will serve you well for a long time.

With as smooth as the operate now, I don't think they will be difficult even loaded with bits. As suggested, I think some wax would be all it needs

Sorry Bob, Didn't see your question until now. Router table is Baltic Birch ply and face frame is Brazilian walnut left over from a neighbor's new kitchen floor.

Do you have some kind of stop on the small drawers? If so, could yyou post details and a closeup picture?

                          Beautiful work!
