Video Of Small Shop in 2 Car Garage

Here's an interesting video on a mobile shop in a two car garage.

That is a great set up. I'd love to do that in my shop just to give a little extra floor space, but my floor is too rough to do that. I am putting my big machinery on mobile stands to at least roll them around a little to simulate additional space.

Man that is awesome, I can't imagine how much time went into just the planning stages of that shop. The time to actually build everything probably doesn't hold a candle to the time invested in actually designing and thinking everything through.
If it ain't broke.. don't fix it!!!... but you can always 'hop it up'

That's the idea I had when I started working on my shop. He has spent allot more time than I did putting it all together and building cabinets for it. Some day I hope to have the time to re-do things in the shop so that they are as neat and functional as what that mans set up is... or perhaps some day I will me lucky enough to have an actual shop some where and I wont need all of that.

That's great! I've done something similar, but not nearly to the same extent! For me, it's not as practical though, since my floors are rather uneven in my shop.

I had read the companion article before, but the video makes one appreciate it more. (The article has a couple more pics, and more description; i'd share, but it's part of the 'paid-subscription' with FWW and i dunno how right that would be).

But he's luckier than most : that two car garage might hold cars at night, but it does not hold anything else : no lumber other than a small corner to hold cutoffs.
And even better : no bicycles, or boxes with kids' stuff, no gardening stuff, no cleaning material (brushes, cleaners), no leftover paint cans ....

I don't even see other smaller tools / accessories, nor the boxes they come in. Most probably he has another smaller holding place for all that. Like I said - lucky .

But then, there's a lot to learn from his setup. Hopefully I can try again and look at my 2-C-G anew to see what I could incorporate from his.

Great setup. I'm inspired, but I have the same concerns for myself that Radhak expressed. Anyway, I'm in the process of fixing up my shop - err garage - to get the cars back in there, and this posting is very timely. Thanks for sharing Rags.

That was totally cool! I was impressed with the floor also. It looked great, very smooth and with the way he was using those cabinets, it had to be level. I've read that some folks with non-level floors mark the locations of where their tools need to go in order to be level. This guy wouldn't need any of that.

Seeing something like this makes you want to redo everything.

No bandsaw, no floor-mounted drill press . . . I think I'd need another dimension (string theory, anyone?) to fit my stuff in there.
