    About to reclaim my shop!

Next Monday, the shed kit I ordered is due to be picked up. After I get it built, all that lawn care "stuff" that has slowly been taking over my shop will be booted out and I will again have all 400 sqft to use as I want!
After rearranging things, the first project will be to insulate the garage door. Next will be electrical upgrades and an epoxy coating for the floor. I might even get around to another wood project or two!

Concrete the lawn and paint it green while your wife is out of town. Sell the lawn equipment and purchase more tools! Put them in the new shed!

A couple? of years back, there was an article in a newspaper that was linked to via the WWW, about a woman whose homeowners association was fighting her. She was older and had looked all through her restrictions and followed them precisely (must have a grass lawn), and bought some artifical grass from an old stadium which she placed as lawn.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Don't tell the LOML where ya got the idea. I stay in deep enough trouble in Eastern Time Zone. I don't need to branch out to Central. And if she packs your belonging and put them in the drive-way, I was thinking that the retired battle-ship USS Alabama sitting anchored in Mobile Bay might make a very nice shop set-up indeed. We're talking really "big iron"! ha.. ha... ha..ha..ha..

Have a great day in Mobile...

Big iron indeed! They used that baby as a shelter during Katrina. The tidal surge lifted it out of it's "hole" and when the water level came down, she had shifted enough that she sat with a pronounced list. They had a heck of a time dredging the slip under her so she could right her self. The aircraft building on the park took horrible damage and a lot of vintage aircraft were badly damaged.

Oh, never fear, your secret is safe with me!

Awesome. I am going to expand my shop this Summer and get the lawn equipment, etc out of there. It is just too jam packed. Stacks of wood everywhere, etc. I can hardly turn around. I have a 24 x 24 shop. I am planning on adding another 350 sf or so to store garden tools, lawn equipment, etc. I will also carve out a small DC room for the cyclone and a small finishing room.

The project has started! I picked up the "kit" from Lowes Friday night (that WAS an adventure) and dragged it home. I had no idea how heavy that thing would be. I backed the trailer into the garage/shop (had to move everything to make room) and left it there. Saturday we had bad storms most of the day so nothing got done.
Sunday, I took it off the trailer, piece-at-a-time, so I could get the trailer out and then restacked it. Joy, I can now move again in my diaster zone AKA my shop.
Monday, I did an inventory of the floor kit. Tuesday, back to Lowes for drip rail, screws (I don't like nails) splice plates and a window. Last night, the perimeter boards were spliced and joist location laid out.

Today, I'll stop by the permit office and take care of that detail. I think I'm going to a lot of sub-assembly before I start any erection.

For all the wood work I've done over the years, this is my first building and I'm looking forward to the job. I've all ready learned that I never want a roofer mad at me. Anyone that climb a ladder with a bundle of shingles on his/her shoulders is no one to mess with!

More progress to report! The Floor is framed and is setting on it's blocks. LOML painted the under side of the flooring panels. I got the anchors set and cemented in and two walls are framed up! My "shop" is a total disater area at the moment, but I have been able to move things around so I can build the walls on the benches so I don't have to bend over (my back liked that). I'm using screws instead of nails (even though I could have used that as a excuse to get a nail gun). Today I hurt in places I didn't know I had, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now and I'm pretty use it isn't the head light of a train!
