Not that it is anything special but here is my workshop or as my wife calls it – my domain. This is the shop that R&R built. No, not rest & relaxation – Ryobi & Rockler. It is in a 488 sq. ft. double car garage and takes up most of the space. Everything is on wheels, except the lathe and workbench, so conceivably it could all be rolled to one side to make room for the car. It has every tool I could possibly need. Well it better because there is no more room for anything else. Central to the shop is the dust collector. Its hose will reach every tool. The lathe has its own setup and all you have to do is change hoses. Besides the normal garage power it has 3 dedicated circuits. One runs the dust collector, another runs all the tools (run one at a time) and the last powers the air conditioner. There is a vent from the house air conditioning/heater into the garage but it isn’t enough to be completely comfortable. All extension cords are 12 gauge. The router table is a poor man’s version of the one from New Yankee Workshop. Some of the ideas and suggestions I read here have found their way into the shop. In an effort to keep the place clean there is a large and a small ShopVac and two handheld vacs. I’d rather be at the lathe but the current project is to build 2 more bookcases to hold my wife’s extensive panda collection. She has one whole bedroom devoted to the critters.

Didn't your mom not tell you not to flaunt in front of the 'have-not's?
I'd reaally like to introduce my wife to yours - the foremost reason i am not allowed to use my 2-car fully is her insistence that garages are primarily for cars...such ignorance in this day and age
but really, Niiiiiiiice setup ...

And have you blocked the vent to the house air-conditioner? I'd not be comfortable allowing the workshop air indoors, however good your dust collection be. Whaddya say?It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

"Not that it is anything special". Looks pretty special to me, nice setup. Having an even smaller shop space I too don't have room for more tools. We've gotta do something about that, it's just not normal for a guy to "not need" more tools

Have not blocked the ceiling vent in the garage from the house. Dust would first have to defeat gravity to get in there. Second, the air or heat kicks on enough to blow it back to the garage."I can't be unhinged -- I already installed them!"Comment

Now a word about my wife. We have been married 34 years and she really doesn’t care what I do or put in the garage so long as:
1. I don’t block access to the washer, dryer, deep freeze or the canned goods we keep out there.
2. keep the floor where she would walk clean so she doesn’t track dust back into the house.
3. I make her stuff."I can't be unhinged -- I already installed them!"Comment

Wow! if i was even a 1/4 organized as you, i'd be able to keep my garage clean and have room to walk (i dont even have many tools yet )! nice setup indeed, and thanks for the intensive pictures of all the tools. i can now finally prove to my wife that i barely have any tools
question: where did you get the lid (with two hose hook ups) to the metal collection can attached to you DC?_________________________

Very Nice!!! Every time I look at the pictures I see another tool here or there!!
If you can get EVERYTHING moved to one side for a car to fit in I'll be surprised!!!! It would be one heck of a stack and pack feat!!!!!!Ric

See:

But other places have this part for probably cheaper.
Fits on a 30 gal. trash can. Ten foot hose on the input side of the cyclone. Two foot (?) hose from the output side of the cyclone to the duct collector. There is another 10 ft. hose that hooks to a dust hood for the lathe. I just swap hoses on the input side of the cyclone. I save empty 25# dog food bags to empty the sawdust into, then zip them shut and place them in the trash."I can't be unhinged -- I already installed them!"Comment
