    Metal shavings and DC

When cutting or drilling metal on a mitre saw or drill press, is it ok to use the DC or shopvac?
Is there a danger sucking up metal shavings and filings?

as long as your DC doesn't have a plastic impeller. (If it does, use one of those 2-stage adaptors)

I understand that this can be a fire hazard. If the shavings are hot (and they usually are) and there is sawdust in the DC you can easily start a fire.

When I am sanding metal, I don't turn the collector on when sanding, but only afterward. The metal has had a chance to cool by then. Not good to be sucking up sparks.

            Very true...from experience.
I will use a clean bag (or no bag) next time in shop vac
