Old timer back with pics of new shop

Hi all, been absent again for a couple years (except for an occassional lurk), but I thought some of you long time members might be interested in my new shop (translation=gloat!). I finally got my garage built. 2 story (the second story is all woodshop), started in 2004, finished last year, but I just recently got moved into my new space. I didn't build the garage, but I did do all the work inside.

I don't know how to embed the pictures anymore, since the forum has changed so much, and I don't think I have a photo storage site anymore (I am NEVER on the computer anymore, and forgot everything), so I uploaded them here and you'll have to hit the links, I guess.

Heres the building from the outside, front

    and rear

Heres a shot from the entrance (steps inside garage)

and another corner. Here you can see my lumber rack and a double french door which will someday lead to a deck

This is a new bench I made for the place. I made it in my old basement shop this winter. The top is 3 layers of 3/4" mdf and a skin of 1/4" masonite. Man is it heavy

and finally my pride and joy DC (for those who remember) is still going strong. I kept it downstairs and and ran the pipes through the floor of the shop.

I haven't used it that much yet, since it just got functional a month or 2 ago. I had to wait until most of winter was finished since I still don't have heat there yet. That is coming this summer. Most of the work I have done in there has been associated with the shop itself and not any kind of furniture yet. But it is nice to have room to swing a board around from the planer to the bench, without banging into something.

      One word: Wow!

OK, a few more words: That's an awefully nice looking space -- I could see hangin' out there for many hours at a time. What's the floor material? Nice vises on that bench, too.

      Welcome back -- don't be a stranger!

      Regards,
      Tom

I like how the shop matches the house.
        A deck off the shop....GROAN!!!

I'll see you in about 36 hours and 1 minute.
You can start the adoption proceedings without me.

        WAIT!!!

It's 1 minute quicker for you to come here and build me a shop instead.
I'll kick out the Newfies next door.

I'm not just a little bit envious. That's a great work space. You gotta like the french doors leading the (eventual) deck concept. What better place to have a cigar and frosty beverage while contemplating your latest project.

          Congratulations!

Nice shop.I guess everybody will be envious of that shop. Looks like a little of Rod Kirby might have rubbed of in the design.Enjoy the new shop, go make saw dust.

                Beautiful shop!

One question: how did you get the big stationary tools up there...and how do you get the big finished projects down?

As someone whose shop is in a dingy old basement, I really like the high ceilings, the windows, and the abundance of light!

                    Enjoy it.

                    Thanks,
                    Phil
