    Posting photos

    Hi Guys (includes Gals)

I am a fairly new convert to the internet and computers as a whole so please excuse my ignorance in this matter - I have what is probably a basic question.

I see loads of photos of shops and would like to show mine, more for advice and critique than for any other reason.

Question - How do I post photos?

Previous responses leave me in no doubt that I will receive many replies.

    Thanks in advance - Les

    hi les,

uploading and displaying pics in a post is pretty straightforward. just create, or reply, to any post and click on the "paper clip" symbol on the top format line. you will then go to a page which will ask you to browse to the location on your computer where the image is located. once you have located the pic, then click on 'upload' to insert it in your post.

give it a try and if you have any further questions, please ask again.

Yes, please post photos of your shop. If you are a man who has been hiding out in your shop since before the computer was invented, that shop must be something to see!
...eight, nine, TEN! Yep! Still got all my fingers!

I wondered why the table saw was built in against the wall until I saw the shot of the whole shop. Good use of space. I really like the finish you put on the cabinet doors! Makes them almost look like sheets of black plastic...

            Thanks Pappy.

Difficult finish that took ages - if you're really interested I'll let you in on the secret.

The saw however is rubbish so I built it in for stability - I can still rip 8x4's with an outrig to the left of the blade but thankfully I will have a new saw soon which is going upstairs the garage with the lathe (wish I could find a BT3over here)

My maxim is, as ever, "Function before Form" (up to a point).

Life is just not fair. Where did you get all that space. Thanks for the pictures. Looks like you are loaded for bear with all those tools. Oh well one of these days.

Great shop! You've really got it designed well, and fit together well.

I also like the fact you've got R2D2 helping out your miter saw!

                      This is a great forum.

I have had a great laugh at some of the replies - none negative.

                      I thank you.

The tool collection was built over a period of years and some of them are "not great". Other good tools were bought as the need arose (meaning I got a bit better and saw the cheap tool limitations).

The shop is 40' feet long but somewhat narrow and a little low - it is the basement of the house (about a third of the width of the house). I have had to expand up tp the garage where I have a new lathe and hopefully a new TS - but I have to share that with "Her indoors". I will see how it pans out.
BTW - I have no real lathe experience (school 30 years ago). Any good sites aimed towards a beginner?

Some of the photos are about 8 months old and, as with all shops I suspect, there is an evolution process.

One thing I do notice is the interest and willingness to help and advise - I hope I will be able to do my small part.
