Very Very Nice...Now make it dusty
All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible

        Man whats this ARRG stuff?
If I had a shop that nice, I would look forward to the projects!
If I get to start my stand alone next summer I can see several Ideas I`ll steal.
I especially like your mobile base and the way it stowes under the bench.
The dry marker board so your wife can prioritize projects for you is a great idea too

Looks good Richard, the saw nesting under the counter is great for minimizing the footprint.

I do have a question on your SCMS. Does the base it's sitting on slide out, or is it not reall as close to the wall as it looks? (or perhaps you only like to cut miters?)

          Thanks,
          Kristofor.

          Thanks, Kristofor.

The SCMS is fixed. It can swivel completly and slides all the way in...Took some trial and errors to get right I have about 1" clearance from back. The depth of counter top was almost totally determined by the SCMS alone. I couldnt afford to be too generous or I wouldnt have been able to get my truck in. I also considered the table saw depth with outfeed plus the idea that at somepoint might have to get a new table saw with standard 27" table depth. The table saw router table set up is in 2 parts. I did so I could rebuild if necessary without having to start completly over.

Very clever arrangement on the BT3 under the bench and the miter saw to the right of that. You might want to consider submitting that to FWW or PWW for inclusion in their occasional shop layout issues. An Rod needs to watch his step, you might give him a run for shop cleanlyness.

Practical question: do you find that the TS is now too low or just right for use with it being lower than the top of the workbench?

thanks for nice replies....ohhhhhh too much pressure if your trying to compare me with Rod.... You havent seen the shop while Im making something!! My neighbor is quite the organized person...He comes over and just shakes his head in disbelief...I get it done but it aint a pretty sight!

To respond to the height of the TS. Actually works well for me...Im only 5'7" so like it a little lower. The height from floor to top of TS is about 36" The bench is about 42"

That was a good question on the height of the saw.
I had considered that too. At 5 ft 8 in I find the stock height a bit much too. I got to checking and found that most cabinet saws are around 34-35 " tall.
When I start my mobile base I intend to shoot for 35".
I think when the saw is too high it puts one a bit off balance to feed material past the blade and could put one in peril?
