...Also the thing's gotta weigh a lot - is it movable? So you can slide it to one side of the garage?...
That island is to the ultimate tool stand as a benchtop saw (think bt10) is to a $3000 cabinet saw

It seems to me that if I built this I would want the bandsaw to be able to slide out and I would want the router table to also be a separate unit that could slide into the island but also be pulled out to function separately. For some uses and convenient space utilization, putting everything in an island makes sense but, as has been mentioned, it does not permit good access to at least a couple of the tools. I do not see a need to get the table saw out, nor the planner, nor the radial arm saw. I personally use both a radial arm saw and a CMS so I would need to have both in the island with the CMS removable.

I also use my router table as an infeed table now and my assembly table as the outfeed table. This concept is a little similar but has a bunch more integration. I like my radial arm saw and CMT higher than my table saw, however, so I am not sure I would like this arrangement for them. My drill press is floor standing so that would also be an issue.

Overall an interesting idea. I think it works best if some of the tools "dock" into the island rather than permanent reside there. That will create an issue with alignment of the top, however. I think that could be handled with adjustable levelers but that process may be too much hassle.

well, if the levelers are built into the stand, so the casters just lock, and the levelers are bolts that move two frames in/out to level thew tool then it wouldn't be much of a problem
