    Which is better?

I have a Jet 1100 dust collector and have plastic gates.
They are all plugged up.Are the metal gates any better?
Tired of cleaning the gates and right now I am getting less suction to everything. Thanks.

Neither. I like mine and they are fun to make.

Hmmm, any idea why they'd be getting plugged? Do they have some supports in the flow path for strength?

My metal ones have never had a problem. I use S&D pipe if that might make a difference.

I like the wooden ones pictured, bought the couplings to make them, figure on replacing the plastic ones a bit at a time, but I do not see how they could plug up, I have had them come apart, and put them together with some small bolts, they are not strong, but plugging up? Do you mean dust in the slider or groove around the edges where they do not move or do not shut tightly? If I make some out of wood, I may use the old plastic gates, they pop apart, mount them cut down neatly to plywood, to keep the fitting sizes the same, those wooden slides are great. No cheap plastic except where the hose needs to attach.
