OSS & Planer in fliptop cabinet?

I have the Ryobi oscillating sander, the Ryobi belt/disc sander, and the Delta 22-580 planer, and the usual insufficient space. I'm wondering whether I could put two of them on opposite sides of a flip top cabinet.

I suspect putting the sanders together woul be a better idea than putting the planer opposite a sander. Has anyone done this, or have any comments on any of the three possible groupings?

I also have one of those bargain Trademan jointers from Lowe's that has to get squeezed into the garage somehow. Any clever combos of benchtop jointers with other tools, on castered cabinets?

I remembered seeing something like this in Wood Magazine a couple of years ago. Here is a link to a flip top style stand they built for a planer and belt/disk sander. Sounds exactly like what you are looking for. The picture and description may be enough to help you build your own or at least get you headed in the right direction.

    Hope this helps.

I have the ryobi OSS and belt/disc sander; along with a Dewalt planer. I built a very crude version (2 x 4's) of the Wood one shown in the previous posters link. I also will place wheels on the rear of the unit to make it portable...like a wheel barrow.

I mounted the OSS and Planer opposing ea. other. And will mount the belt/disc opposing a scrollsaw. My rationale: I tried to place the heaviest/largest tools opposite of ea. other to help with balance when flipping. Even tho the planer is heavier than the OSS, it flips very easily. Also, I wanted to have the option of having both sanders mounted seperately in case I needed to bounce between sanders for some reason. One thing I ran into with the OSS/planer combo you will need to watch for...figuring out how to bolt them to the actual "flipper" piece w/out interfering with the opposing tools mounting holes. I ended up having to cut small access areas from the bottom plastic housing of the OSS..just enough to fit a wrench in to tighten the nuts for the planer. I supposed I could have used large lag screws to mount them but wanted to be sure they were secure (I have a tendency to do overkill on things).

as far as the jointer goes id have to suggest parking it under the your tablesaw, i have had mine in 3 different places and this is by far the most efficient and my favorite, plus it shares the clear space with the BT.
You could build a small cabinet with storage and not lose too much space.

I don`t have any of those tools yet, but intend to.
Your mention of Jointer AND PLaner, is something I have been thinking about. Since the acepted material preperation procedure is to edge joint, face joint and plane the other face.
I was wondering about mounting them side by side on a bench.
My thought was if the planer infeed table was parralel to the joiner outfeed table, one would move very little to finish the process.
Pass from left to right on Jointer, and right to left through the planer and the piece would be done.

Unless someone shoots it down I may try it once I get a planer & jointer.
