Connecting 4" S&D to 4" flex hose to SG

I want to run a DC hose from HF DC unit to a Shark Guard. The 4" S&D pipe at Home Depot is the same diameter as the flex hose that came with the HF dust collection kit. Is there a coupling that I can get to connect the 2 together?
Once I get that 4" run to the Shark Guard, are there any reducers to connect the hose to the Shark Guard? I have the 4"-2.5" reducer but it's the same OD as the Shark Guard.

    Duct tape

if you want you can buy a coupling to attach (2) 4"od pieces together, but the tapes been working just fine for me.

can also get reducers of every size but it kills the dc's airflow since they work with volume mor than powerful vacuum.
dont you have that new hybrind craftsman TS now>? i guess the SG fits on there ok eh?

      Matt,
Lee makes a SG with snap-in splitters for the new Craftsman hybrid.

I don't want to use duct tape to connect the S&D pipe to the flex hose. Do you know who sells the couplings?

You might try putting a standard S&D union on the pipe and them slipping the flex inside the union. You might need to wrap the end of the flex with duct tape to make the joint tight.

I use a "Plastic Splice Adapter" to connect 4" DC hose to 4" S&D pipe.

Press fit one end of adapter into the S&D pipe. Insert the other end of the adapter into the hose and secure it with a 4" Steel Hose Clamp

Both are available at WoodCraft or wherever DC hoses and connectors are sold.

            Lonnie,
That's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

I needed a couple of hose to pipe connections. I took one of those adapters and sawed it in half right at the center. Put the fat end into the pipe, heated the pipe with a torch gently, a press fit while the pipe is hot, a pipe clamp, some caulk. Depot has soft black rubber reducer fittings, that will slip into the DC hose, and will take a Ridgid hose kit and its fitting, to go to the shark, another soft rubber union will slip over Ridgid hose and its orange fitting, and go onto the shark. Quick to remove, with the black rubber fittings.

Quick question on the S&D pipe, is what your talking about here the lightweight hose at the Borg that looks like a black layer inside with a white PVC layer over the top of that? (At around $6.00/10ft)?

                Thanks.

I have seen it in gray or black, but not the color combo you mention, Stan. The price sounds about right though. It's the thinnest of the PVC piping. No good for any real pressure.
                  Drain only.
What I used to joint these was a peice of 4" aluminum snap loc pipe. These are designed for oven hood vents and are sored back by cabinets in HD and Lowe's. These come in about two foot sections. I cut about 4" off, snap that together and slip it in both the S&D and the hose. I use three small screws or pop rivets to hold these perfectly in place and then wrap the joint with aluminum tape. This makes a nice thin walled fairly smooth joint. It is however, permanent. You also need to use care when cutting the aluminum. It is razor sharp like a soda can.

Sounds like there's a color of S&D for every decor. The stuff I get at Menards or HD is blue/green. Like so:

This pic also shows how I connect hose to pipe, but maybe not all the hose out there can fit over S&D.

                    Regards,
                    Tom

Not all the hose out there can fit over S&D, then the snap
lock or a coupler works, I did have some luck heating and
necking the S&D down to gates for a tight fit, with some hacksaw
slits cut in the end. Some hose like the clear Rockler has more
stretch, and its more flexible than the HF. HF is TANK hose, its
                      tough.
