My shop is 25' long, but has one narrow end, about 9 ft wide, the larger section is about 11 1/2 by 15, it seems just big enough to use, with a BT3, a bandsaw, small DP, a workbench that has a drop leaf to get it narrow and to the wall, I end up using the back end for ripping, storage, and most tools work in the wider section. Ripping is important for me, but I will rip out the back door, onto rollers in good weather. I vote for wider with a door to the outside if possible that is wide with an awning. You got access to the yard? If not, I still vote for wider unless you are hand building real narrow kayaks.
