    Today's Shop

I don't think that I've posted pictures of my shop before, but this is the state of it right at the moment, messy and all.

It looks nice Keith.Cozy little shop.
You do have to work where you can as we all do.
One question does come to mind. Looks like you have electric Baseboard heat?(something I have considered in my shop)
When heating season comes you might want to be careful of sawdust and cutoffs creating tinder for a fire?

I'm one of those people who always has to fight down the urge to straighten a crooked picture, even if the wall it's hanging on isn't mine. I think Rod's the same way, but on a whole-shop level.

Keith, I'm curious about two things:

What sort of room is your shop in? It kind of looks like a habitable room (spare bedroom?), but I see a wood floor.

Is that a dust port coming out the lower left side of the SCMS cabinet? How's that work?

The room is a garage that was converted into a family room. (not by me) It is therefore on a seperate heating system from the rest of the house. As we basicaly did a gut remodel of the house, we had to work somewhere, so this room got the nod.

It's likely that we'll convert it back to a garage when we go to sell this place, as the garage makes the house more valuable to a buyer than the room as a family room. Also, the entire floor slopes toward the front of the house, drainage when it was a garage. Makes for an odd sort of room.

The SCMS cabinet does indeed have a dust port, which collects dust through a funnel from under the saw. This works pretty decently for my old ryobi miter saw, and not at all for my makita. The makita design makes it such that there isn't a direct path through the saw.

About the heating, baseboard is a very safe heating system, but I do tend to keep the heaters clean.

Then I won't post pics of my shop. If I did it would drive him nuts being over there in Oz and not being able to do anything about it.
