    Another something for my dad...

In previous thread I showed some progress on the momento table I've built for my dad. That is finished and I'll post pics eventually.

My dad also asked if I could make him some sort of useful storage "thing" using the drawers from his mother's old sewing machine... Here's the work in progress

All finished and ready for finish coats ... Still need to clean up the drawers a little but for the most part I will leave them with some of the "character" the years have given them ...

It looks like you did a good job. The color looks really nice in the pictures.

Thank you ... I'll post pics in the completed projects forum once I deliver ... both the table and this drawer case.

I like the open design, it has a kind of arts and crafts appeal. What are the dimensions on that?

Thanks Bill ... the dimensions are 7 1/2" wide x 16" long x 18" tall. I basically let the drawers dictate the size.

I was indeed going for a "mission - arts/crafts" style. I wanted to work on my mortise/tenon skills and I used scrap white oak from other projects. The base and the top are actually two-piece blanks that I jointed and glued together to get the width I needed. The "rail" pieces around the top were just offcut pieces I salvaged. (Dad wanted the top of whatever I built to have a rail of some sort because he's always laying pencils down and he didn't want them rolling off on the floor )

With the drawers in it's really pretty heavy. I'm looking forward to my dad's comments because he basically said "can you build me a cabinet to hold these old drawers..."
