    Walnut Library Table

    A Christmas break project.

Table is done except for final finishing - - waiting for it to get warm so I have plenty of ventilation. Table is all walnut, except for the drawers, which are cherry. Top is sanded down to 320 grain.

I will probably finish it with lacquer. I may use gloss for the top and the lower shelf and semi-gloss for the legs and sides. Have to see what the LOML wants.

    Thanks for looking.

    Happy New Year, everyone. Steve

Great looking table Steve, well done. Interesting grain and coloration on the front rail, bet it pops with finish.

Nice work. A very clean design. Before you topcoat, take a scrap piece of walnut, sand it no smoother than 220x. Wipe on a 50/50 BLO/naptha or mineral spirit mix. Let it sit for a few minutes, and wipe off excess. Wait until it cures and then topcoat. See if you like the looks.

My eyes went straight to the front rail also. The finish is really going to bring out the grain!

beautiful job ---- why finish it? Walnut's beautiful by itself!

Maybe a light coat of oil or varnish ---- but your work is already stunning!

                              Steve,

Very nice indeed! I really like walnut, and it fits very well with the nice clean lines of your design. The grain on the front really highlights the table and will catch the eye nicely.

I also like the drawer on the end, rather than what I might have done traditionally on the front. Very good thought and it keeps the lines straight and beautiful.

                              Exceptional.

                              Thanks for posting it,
