I'm about finishing up an Asian style jewelry box.
The woods are Bloodwood and Gabon Ebony. Usually I don't like a glossy finish, but this project seems to scream out for it. The Bloodwood which constitutes about 80% of the box has already been finished with my usual 3 coats of Watco natural Danish oil finish. The Ebony has been sanded up to 600 grit and then polished on a rag wheel with White Rouge.
What I would want to do is to final coat the box with, hopefully, a wipe on gloss varnish or shellac. Having never used any finish other than Watco, I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.
I figured that one of you guys must have the answer.
All responses will be gladly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Bruce
