Finishing help

I need some advise on finishing a piece of figured Bubinga. I am building a guitar and the main body is African Mahogany with a figured Bubinga top. I shoot my final finish in Nitro Lacquer. I have used the AM on prior builds and know it needs a good grain filling prior to final finish. Does Bubinga need grain filling? Also what would be the best way to "pop" the flame on the Bubinga? When I work with flame maple I usually use Vintage Amber Trans Tint dye/alchohol then sand back.

The buibinga I have worked with doesn't really need a filler. It's very unlike mahogonay. It polishes to a sheen even before a finish is applied! It does,however, have some tiny "holes" dispersed in the grain. For this reason a filler might might help in your application.

It sounds like you're a pretty accompished finisher, with a technique you trust. Go with what you know and expect the bubinga really pop.

Here are a few pics of my in progress build and my most recent completion. The completed guitar is African Mahogany with a Maple neck and Spalted Hickory fretboard. The neck was an experiment that I did not expect to work out. If I failed I could always use it to smoke a Brisket. The body is finished in Nitro Lacquer and the neck with Tru-oil.
The new build is also Af Mahog (I got a great buy on a 6' x 16" x 6/4 piece) that I am chambering to reduce weight. The top will be bookmatched figured Bubinga.

Thanks guys. This is how I am keeping myself busy in retirement.
TK- the body I show in the next pic with template attached has the other half of that knot. It will be at the base of the new guitar.
