    Louvered shutters

I have been adding on to my house again. My latest project is an attached 24' x 22' carport with a full concrete foundation, retaining wall and footings. On top is a 24' x 22' covered porch with a vaulted ceiling and three open sides. On the side furthest from the house is a 22' x 8' covered storage area with 2 roll-up doors opening into the carport. A fairly large project that has taken all of my time. I am now considering what to do with the upper porch area. Right now I have a 3' knee wall on 3 sides with aproximately 8'x4.5' openings above that. The upper walls are framed with PT 4x6's. I am thinking about enclosing these openings with 3-light sliding windows and turning it into a sun room of sorts. In addition I would really like to have "bermuda shutters" on the southern and western exposers to keep out direct sunlight.

My question is how to build these myself. I haven't really been able to find any specific plans or instructions on how to do this. I am really wondering how to cut the grooves for the individual slats in a consistant and timely way. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Norm did a show on those with a jig that made short work of the slat mounting. Making that jig didn't look fun though, not hard just tedious. they might have the "measured drawring" on his website.

I am thinking of cutting the slots on the Radial Arm Saw or Compound Miter Saw with a bunch of identical spacer blocks. For me, it is a bit harder to do it on the table saw.

        Perfect

I was hoping for something just like that and I found exactly what you are refering to on the New Yankee Workshop sight. They have the "Measured Drawings" alone or with the DVD. I am thinking of getting both since it looks like there are a bunch of useful jig plans and instructions included. Thanks for the advice. Knew I could count on you guys.

If its the plans Im thinking of, there was more than just one jig to build. The plans called for 3-4 jigs to be built. My dad ordered those plans.
