    Yellow sapwood on cherry?

I am just about done with a dresser for my daughter. It is part of a bedroom set for her wedding present. I was surprised when I got finish on the dresser that some of the sapwood is yellow. Not a slight tinge of yellow, a fairly bright yellow. The top two drawers have a board with some striking figure that I wanted to use despite the sapwood showing. She is good with a little sapwood so I do not expect a negative reaction.

I have never seen this before, however. The other sapwood I've seen in cherry has always been white like maple.

BLO will yellow cherry sapwood, otherwise it has a slight greenish tinge to it.

Finish is Resisthane, no BLO first. I've finished figured maple with BLO and know the yellow that creates. This is brighter. Maybe a mineral in the ground where that tree grew?

Based on my experience with cherry, time and light exposure will probably even out the color difference between the sapwood and the heartwood. After a few years, they will probably look subtly different rather than strikingly different.

I have some cherry pieces I made say 6 years ago that were clearly (and fetchingly) two-toned, and now I have to look very carefully to see the delineation between the heartwood and sapwood.
