    Which Hinges?

What hinges do you prefer? For cabinet work I like Blum ("european" style) because they are adjustable and easy to install. On the other hand they are not the easiest to setup for because you need a special 35mm bit and need to drill for them on a special layout.

Any special purpose hinges you guys like? Piano? Hidden? Mortice? Soss? Leaf?

    It depends.

I know I do not like Soss hinges. Way above my patience level and I don't
    feel like buying their jig.

I build mostly face frame cabinets and for those, I like to use the 35mm cup
hinges that attach to a 3/4" face frame. Pretty quick and easy once I get
the hinge placement just right on my drill press setup.

If I'm building nice furniture, I usually like leaf hinges that are mortised into
    the cabinet and the door.

On one occassion, no hinge would have fit the bill because of the curved door
and my desire to keep the movement completely hidden. I used 2 short
sections of metal rod that sit in a recess drilled into the top and bottom of
the door around the pivot point.

I mostly do 3/8" rabbeted overlay doors so use that style of hinge.

Don't know the brand, but I have used to Euro style hinges sold at HD. So far no problems with them and they are a lot cheaper than Blum.
