    Is there a list of the porous woods? I plan to use a salad bowl finish. Does that help any with the porousness?
    I reject your reality and substitute my own.

      salad bowl finish is usually Mineral oil or something similar. It doesn't do anything to the pours.

      Only hard finished like Poly, Lacquer, would have a chance of filling them, but then you wouldn't want to use it as a cutting board as your food would pick of bits of the finish which likely wouldn't be very healthy.
