I need to match an ugly door for a project for a client. I need a stain that is olive green in color. I found a minwax stain that I thought would work but it is way off. Can I add green food coloring to the stain to get the green tone I am looking for? Any ideas on a company that makes green stain?

You can add Tints-All, or universal tints to an oil base stain. You could find stains more in the green colors if you check for fence and deck stains. They are available in a translucent and opaque finishes. Many of them are a mix, and finding pints or quarts already mixed may be difficult.

If you can take a color sample in they may be able to custom mix a stain to it just like they mix paint. You may want to call around to find someone with the software for stain and not just for paint.

I believe that Ikea has a water based stain that you can probably view on their website. The reason I thought of that was your descriptive adjective ugly:-)You don't need a parachute to skydive, you only need a parachute to skydive twice.Comment
