    Windsor type chair rebuild question

I'm rebuilding a chair for my daughter. While I have reconstructed many chairs where the seat attaches to the rails this is the first where the legs are mortised into the seat. All the stretchers and leg holes are sloppy fit so I'll be using construction adhesive because of it's void filling, open time and strength properties. My question is: What is the sequence of assembly? Every way I look at it the last leg or stretcher will be difficult to install. Best I can come up with is put the whole base assembly together and then into the seat holes. This would be before the adhesive has a chance to set up.

    Thanks for any assistance.

I've had the best luck with putting the legs in first and then the stretchers.

The back spokes of the chair are always challenge, but my 12 year old grandson lives next door so I've always got an extra pair of willing hands!

BTW, my six chairs were built in the early 1930's and I've them for 38 years. Lots of repairs. I've found 5 minute epoxy the best solution for my fixes.
You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...
