I have been planning building Nahm's router table for a few weeks, tweaking and modifying size to fit my needs (and improve Sketchup skills as well). I have started cutting the cabinet pieces and everything was gong great until the cutting the rabbet to accept the back. I must remember that the sides are mirror images, not the same.

To fix mistake I have cut down a plywood strip..... measure twice, cut once only works when your brain is on!

I'll post pics when it is done. I'm excited to have a router table with dust collection.

Marking the parts might take some of the remembering and doubt out of the equation. A simple "L" for left, and an "R" for right could suffice.

Or as I see David Marks do all the time, just pencil mark all the cuts. This allows you to perform "virtual" trial cuts. When it is time to go to the saw, just make sure you're cutting on the pencil marks.

Been there done that. Don't think of it as a mistake think of it as a learning experience.

Now you know from experience to mark where you need to cut.

Yep, done stuff like that. Even worse, I cut the edges of the piece to do the rabbit on the correct side, and I made the same mistake again. 3rd time's a charm...

Lather, rinse, repeat. More than once. BTDT—you should see the tool cabinet I made out of found materials. I cut the sides out of a piece of an old dresser with some nice moulding on the bottom. I rabbeted both sides the same, so now the left side has the moulding at the top.

I learned the hard way to mark pieces too. Of course there was the time I marked both sides as 'R'.....
