Bathroom Vanity (Rubbed Oil Bronze Finish)

Been working on the bathroom vanity that the wife wants. Made out of red oak. Today as I am half way thru constructing the cabinet, she peeks her head in the garage and says something about the finish on it. I was thinking to stain it like the rest of the trim and cabinets in the house. I was politely and purposefully told that she wanted the cabinet to have the look of rubbed oil bronze.

With that, any ideas on how to achieve that sort of look in red oak?

    Thank you in advance.
It's all good till it's no good any more.

You may have to find the color you want in a sample color selection, like for paint. Pick up a color wheel to see what colors mixed produce. Then with scraps experiment with brown tone pigmented oil stains, and adding pigmented tints. Keep trying different combinations until you get close.

Or, you may achieve a combination with a clear (natural) stain, and just using tints.

They may change when dry, and adding a topcoat will give it a different look. So, when making samples, take them out to the final finish.

Consider using gilders paste. It comes in many metallic and non-metallic colors. Try this: http://www.gilderspaste.com
