    Safe proof fencing for Dachshunds...?

I have two small Dachshunds that love to bolt out my front door whenever it opens, so I am debating on what kind of fencing I should put in my front yard & how to safe guard it against my dogs getting loose. I don't want to spend a super amount of money & would be happy with any suggestions. I was thinking about some kind of chicken-type wiring with wood framing...
I should add I don't know much about fence making either.

Sometimes dogs will dig their way under fences. If that's the case, and your yard is not too big, maybe an electric collar/fence would not be out of the question, monetarily. They do work quite well, although I never had one.

Do you know about kickback? Ray has a good writeup here... https://www.sawdustzone.org/articles...mare-explained

how prone are your weiners to digging? if they don't do alot of it, something as simple as a low picket fence may be your best option, it works for my standard.

if not, I've seen the invisible fence setup work well for mini's even though the collar may be bigger than they are... YMMV

Downside of invisible fences is that wile they keep your dogs in most of the time, they will not keep other predators (other dogs, coyotes etc) out of the yard. I'd always suggest an actual fence of sorts.

Another downside to invisible fences is that if your dog somehow gets out, they get zapped coming back into your yard. Not really great. Probably not as big of a deal with dachshunds as some other breeds (this is a big reason why greyhound groups say no to them, along with what Gerti said and the dogs being so fast that they are through it before they get the shock). In general, I also question the humaneness of anything that works by inflicting pain in the dog.
